Animal Diseases
The last detected case of
Avian Flu was an outbreak of the H7N7 strain in laying hens at premises in Banbury Oxfordshire. This outbreak has now been dealt with and surveillance zone restrictions were lifted on Tuesday 8 July 2008.
The whole of the region, including the Isles of Scilly falls within the current Bluetongue protection zone as the disease continues to spread north and westward. Livestock keepers are asked to remain vigilant for signs of the disease.
Contact the Defra helpline on 08459 33 55 77 if you need to report dead wild gulls, waders, ducks, geese or swans, groups of dead birds or advice on avian influenza or for advice on Bluetongue. Further information is also available here.
Events, Exercises and Meetings
Events, exercises and meetings taking place regionally and nationally that may be of interest to Emergency Planners in the region are available to download as Excel documents.
It is hoped that making this information available will help avoid conflicting meetings, exercises etc. The documents contain only details of events notified to the Regional Resilience Team.
To assist us in this you are asked to notify the Regional Resilience Team of any new events or errors. The Calendar can be found below in Related Documents.
