Behaviour Improvement Programme

The Behaviour Improvement Programme began in 2002. The aim of the programme is to improve behaviour and attendance in schools. There are seven programme areas in the South West: Bristol, which is a Phase 1 project, and Bridgwater, Cambourne, Pool and Redruth, Gloucester, Plymouth, Swindon and Weston which are all Phase 4 projects.

Government Office for the South West supports the programme through working with individual schools and clusters of schools and Local Authorities to bring about improvement and to help establish the conditions for success. From 1 April 2006 GOSW has had an enhanced role in supporting the improvement of services for children, young people and families which will be the responsibility of the Children and Learners Group.
