The fund focuses on preventative work, aiming to intervene before children come into crisis. It aims to:
- improve school attendance and educational performance in children aged 5 to 13
- reduce the number of children aged 10 to 13 involved in crime, and ensure that fewer children are victims of crime
- reduce health inequalities
- involve families in helping with local programmes
Services include:
- breakfast clubs
- work with Youth Offending Teams
- work with hard-to-reach and ethnic minority groups
- counselling services
- young carers services
The key principles for the Children’s Fund are to focus on Prevention, Partnership and Participation.
