Tackling anti-social behaviour is a key government priority and has been highlighted as a priority within the new Public Service Agreements published in October 2007. PSA 23 highlights the priority which the government places on tackling crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour as defined in each locality. It also aims to increase public confidence in the local agencies involved in dealing with these issues. The South West ASB Network aims to:
• Enable the sharing of local, regional and national information about anti-social behaviour
• Provide an opportunity for problem solving
• Pilot and share good practice
• Agree mechanisms for cascading good practice
• Address issues around collecting and disseminating data
• Develop and share protocols
• Follow the progress of and ensure compliance with the ASB White Paper and other legislation
• Identify and commission joint training opportunities
Membership of the SWASBN will come from:
• Anti-Social Behaviour Co-ordinators
• Community Safety Officers with ASB responsibility
• Partnership Police Officers with ASB responsibility
• Others such as County Council Officers / Police HQ Officers with ASB responsibility
• Housing or Legal Officers who have responsibility for co-ordinating responses to ASB
As part of the disseminating good practice, Network members often share documents such as job responsibilities for ASB co-ordinators, ASB protocols, ABC contracts etc.
